New year Party Nails

Hello there!!! hope you all had a very merry Christmas and got lots of lovely gifts.

This is just a quick post on my nails which I done last night, I was so impressed with them I thought I would share with you how I done it.

Very sparkly!!!!

Firstly I used OPI's nail envy for my base coat - applying a thin layer - there are so many places you can get this from but I recommend getting it from www.qvcuk.com as they do a great value duo set for under £20.

Then once it had dried I applied my colour.
I went for a black colour from collection 2000, now I did buy it around 2 years ago from the Maxiflex range. I'm not sure if they still do this range or how much it is, if they still do it the colour is 87 in ebony.

This is where it gets fun, once you have applied the second coat of colour you squeeze the glitter tube and it puffs some glitter on to your nail, to get in to the tricky bits at the nail edge you just hold the tube at an angle and squeeze.

The gold glitter i used came from this little set by i found in superdrug just before Christmas.

It's the Gold finger red hot glitz set by Andrea Fulerton nail boutique.
I got it for £2.99 down from £5.99 but don't quote me on that, as I was full of flu when I brought it!!
You can get the Andrea Fulerton range from superdrug and you can find out information on all of Andrea Fulerton's nail boutique range at www.andreafulerton.com

Once you have applied the desired amount of glitter, gently tap your nail on a hard surface to get rid of any excess glitter, then proceed straight away with applying the top coat.
For this I used models own 3 in 1 base coat / top coat & gloss.

Apply a thick layer from the tip down to the base, dragging the glitter as you go, make sure you wipe off the brush before putting it back in the bottle or you will end up with bits of glitter floating about in the bottle and possibly ruining a future manicure!!
You can get this top coat from either boots in store or at www.boots.com or from www.modelsownit.com for £5.

Once it has dried apply a cuticle oil. and there you have it!!! super sparkly new year party nails!!

Now as a little experiment I decided to make a short video showing how I did it (no words, just music, just showing each product)
It was  done on a whim so please be kind, and if enough people like it we will do more videos in the new year.

I hope you all have a great new year whatever you get up to, bring on 2012!!!

Christmas Gift ideas....Beauty

Philosophy's fresh face and summer grace collection

As you can tell I have been shopping! so this brings me to my next beauty Christmas gift idea..Philosophy!!

Breakdown

Way back in January me and M went to qvc beauty bash, and were given a huge bag full of goodies (all free might i add) and  in this bag was a sample of  philosophy's "purity mad simple one-step facial cleanser" which i recently started using a month ago, and trust me if i knew how great of a product this was, i would've started using it when i got it!  this cleanser melts away your make up,and mascara! this to me is a one step facial cleansing miracle in a bottle! sometimes we want to take off the day but not take all night to do it, this is one of my hero products its a tad on the pricey side, but worth every penny..

What Philosophy say:

Formulated for all skin types, replaces your makeup remover, eye makeup remover, facial cleanser and toner, deep cleans pores, hydrates as it melts away makeup!!!

From left - right,Purity cleanser, purifying peel, hope in a jar (well, if it's good enough for Oprah! ya nutta mean!) facial moisturiser, and finally summer grace 3n1 shampoo bath and shower gel.

As you can see anyone would be thrilled to receive this gift set, but you could split it up, and for example give your mum "hope in a jar" give your best mate " purity cleanser" and give your sister the "peel and 3n1" and i am sure they would be well impressed...

or.....

if you can't bear the thought of giving this away (wink wink nudge nudge) then as l'oreal says "because your worth it".....

Go on treat yourself! you know you want to!

...I bought this set directly from WWW.QVCUK.COM  it costs £43.92 plus £4.95p&p they also sell them in boots, but I'm sure its the larger stores only and you'll have to buy them separately! and with that being said, I am so sure that when you see the price of them in boots you will run to the phones or on line to QVC like your hands are on FIRE! LOL!

The Body Shop's "oil free balancing foundation spf 15" (budget friendly!)

my foundation tester from the body shop! in the color 09

First let me inform you, that in December's "Cosmopolitan" magazine (out now!) The body shop are giving away a card which has anything from £3-£100 to spend in store...so, if I were you I would go and get this magazine now!

Right with that being said, I went to the body shop a few weeks ago looking for something to buy, I didn't even realise they did foundation, and was shocked to see that they did foundation for darker skin tones!

When the sales assistant asked me if i would like to try some foundation, I must admit, I looked at her like she was crazy! ( even though she was a black woman) and then said "what, for me?"  and then proceeded to bombard the sales assistant (poor woman! LOL!) with questions like " is your foundation from here?!" "are you telling the truth?"  "are you  trying to sell me this foundation when your really wearing M.A.C" lol!. I had foundation on already that day so I asked for a tester..

The next day when I tried this foundation, I was in shock and dis-belief, as I said in the "foundation blog" I have been wearing mac foundation for years, but this one is ahh-ma-zing! and for £13 for 30ml this is more then worth it!

Verdict

I really like this foundation, and I will be buying it again, for me this color "09" is perfect. I applied this at 9am and at 11pm it still looked fresh, I didn't want to take it off!

PRO's
  • value for money! £13 for 30ml
  • great coverage
  • oil free (so should be good for oily skin types)
  • has SPF 15
  • semi matte finish
CON's
  • if you do not like a matte finish ( semi matte) foundation this is not the one for you
  • that's all
You can look directly on the website www.thebodyshop.co.uk but I would advise you to go in to your local store and ask for a tester!

I am well impressed with "the body shop"

x

Foundation a few tips!!

First of all I would like to let you know that I've been wearing mac foundations for years, I am an "NC50" in most mac foundations, now the reason why i say "most" is because i found that even though my color is "nc50"  some of there foundations, tend, to be darker, then others, so my advice to you, if you are interested in buying a mac foundation, go to the store without any foundation on, and let them match you up with a foundation, and when they do, do not buy it straight away. As when the sales assistant (make-up artist) hands you that massive mirror, remember, when you looking into it (feeling like you "run the world" like beyonce!! mmmmm hmmmm!) you are looking into it under artificial lights! which brings me to my next piece of advice....

GO OUTSIDE! ( and no! not outside in a department store under more artificial lights!) IN NATURAL LIGHT!!!!!! get on with your day, (hopefully you will have an honest friend with you) and check the foundation in an hour (or few hours) see how it looks, how does it feel on your skin? take a few photos, now that might seem a tad extreme to you, but (and yess it's a big BUT!) you do not want the experience of paying for a mac foundation ( or any foundation, lets be real, it all costs, no matter how cheap or expensive!!) which isn't cheap! only to look at a photo of yourself  to see, your face is ten times darker or worse lighter then your neck...

" i do not know about you, but, me, i do not like the idea of  looking like Casper the friendly ghost,on a dark skinned woman, its not friendly at all"

Another thing I would say is, do not be embarrassed to ask for a tester of the product so you can try yourself at home, an even better way to try before you buy...and to see if you really do like the product and if the product likes you..

TIPS
  • Go to the store without foundation on
  • see what the foundation looks like in natural light
  • wait an hour or two, to see what the foundation looks like (has it gone darker, too shiny etc etc..)
  • take a photo with the foundation on
  • ask for a tester to take home to try yourself for a week or more
  • see if the product likes you, as there is nothing more annoying then buying a foundation only to find that you get breakouts from it.
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!!

I hope this helps you on your search for your  foundation..

Rimmel Scandal eyes mascara (NEW)

I'd like to take this time to admit that I am addicted to mascara, I love the stuff..and if i wear nothing eles on my face, i will always have mascara on!

Firstly I've never been a fan of rimmel's mascara's having bought some in the past and being very disapointed. I have also not been a fan of mascaras with fat brushes, to me, they were just "fat for nothing" . So what drew me to this mascara was the color, and the fact that superdrugs are currently running  3for2 offers on all make-up, so i thought, "why not give it a try".

SHOCK ALERT! SHOCK ALERT!

Finally, finally! fi-na-leeeee, rimmel has done IT! ( oh my lifeeee) I am in lust with this mascara...i need this mascara in my life! and I have been wearing it everyday for the last two weeks! when I first went to use it i was thinking "oh here we go another "scud" product from rimmel", ( it was like i could hear sad music in the background, getting ready for my disapointment yet ahh-gain!) but I was surprised and shocked at the results. I have been loving the 60's lash trend that is sooo hot right now, so if you like the bold black eyeliner you need this (NEED THIS!) to complete this look.

This mascara does it all, it lengthens, it separates, it does not clump (but i guess that is all in how you apply it) and it gives ah-ma-zing volume! so your eyelashes look full and thick!
I am so impressed with this mascara.

You can buy this from any superdrugs (3for2 on all cosmetics until the 22nd nov) it costs £6.99 or you can buy this online at www.superdrugs.com

Collection 2000 Extreme 24 hour Felt Tip Liner (budget friendly)

Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner

First of all let me say that I never really paid to much attention to this cosmectic range until they bought out there lip creams, and then, what can I tell you, a love affair was born!

If you do not know already, right now, I am having an intense affair with black eye liners, and I have been wearing black eyeliner for about two weeks straight, and even though I adore my "bobbi brown" gel liners, I have fallen hard, for this one! and in my book, it is a must have..

You could apply this eyeliner in 9am in the morning and it will still look fresh 9pm at night, it is fast drying ( you don't have to take my word for it, just go in to boots or superdrug's pick up a tester, draw it on your hand, wait two seconds and rub, see for yourself...) and the colour is a very intense black and has a nice sheen to it (£2.99, two pounds and ninety nine pence!)
If you are a person that finds it difficult to apply liquid liner that has a really thin brush tip, this would be perfect for you, or if you are just starting out in make up, this would be perfect for you also!

" not suitable for contact lense wearers"

For more information on the collection 2000 cosmectic range go directly to there website http://www.collection2000.co.uk/  you can not buy directly from the website, but there products are avalible from your nearest superdrugs or boots or online http://www.boots.com/ or http://www.superdrug.com/

"right now superdrugs are currently doing 3for2 on all cosmectics, so if I were you, I would get there fast"

Ps...I do not think this is suitable for the the water line...

Collection 2000 Hot Looks nail polish in "All that Jazz"

Back in July I done a review on a stunning summer purple called "Teeny Bikini" from their summer collection, now they have brought out their Autumn / Winter colours and I have fallen in love with them all!!!

The first colour I tried was "All that Jazz" is a fabulous metallic gunmetal grey with flashes of silver running through it.

(Sorry for the bad quality of photo, camera is playing up!!)

The coverage again is fantastic, only 2 coats are needed, and again it dries very quickly.

One little tip, if you really want it to bang you can use one on the many glitter topcoats that have come out recently.

Still an unbelievable £1.79, you'd be silly not to x

You can get collection 2000 at boots in store or online www.boots.com or superdrugs in store or online www.superdrug.com

At the moment superdrug are doing 3 for 2 across all cosmetics in store and online, which is a great excuse to get a few different things for less!!

No7 Protect & Perfect Lip Care

As boots have been giving out £5 vouchers for No7 like candy, I decided to try something from the Protect & Perfect range.

After a long hard look online I opted for the lip care cream as the reviews on the boots website were quite good and as i've become obsessed with lipstick of late I thought it would be a good lipstick base.

The cream comes in a 10ml tube

The back of the box reads as so:

"Retexturises and Firms - This rich, conditioning balm boosts moisture for 24 hours, leaving you with softer, healthier looking lips. Contains lipo-peptides to help smooth away lip roughness and our patent pending antioxidant complex to help protect your lips from the environment.
A little lip care everyday..... Smooth on and around your lips every morning and anytime they need a little extra care, given you a great base for favourite lipstick.
Created with care.... We created this hypo-allergenic product using only ingredients we know and trust"
That is quite in-depth breakdown of the cream.

The tube has a lip applicator at the end making it easy to apply

The texture of the cream is like well cream!!! a nice thick rich body cream type texture

Now for my verdict......

I did not like the cream at all!!!!!
Its too thick for a start, and took quite a bit of rubbing for it to be absorbed, therefore it does not act well as a lipstick base and I swear my lipstick just slid off after an hour or so.
It does not last for 24 hours as I was topping it up every few hours.
Now I had slightly chapped lips before using this but it seems to have made them even worse!!!

I wish I had saved the £4 and put it towards Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour balm which is far superior to this in every way.

In the meantime I will be sticking to my tub of vasaline.

1 star out of 5

If you would like to try this and see if works for you can get it at either www.boots.com or in store on sale for £9 if you have a £5 off voucher I suggest you use it!!!

Sleek's Brow kit!! (under £10) correction!

Sorry, I made a mistake, the brow kit costs £7.99 not £6.50! my bad. In any case its still a great price!

x

Sleek's Brow kit!! (under £10)

Sleek's Brow kit

First of all let me say "thank god for sleek's brow kit".

Secondly, I had my eyebrows threaded for the first time in almost four weeks ( i was growing them out, because the last person i went to messed them up big time! hmmm) today, and let me put it like this, i have come to the conclusion that i have the worst luck in the world when it comes to my, eyebrows, even though I told the so called "professional threader" what i wanted, she still messed up my brows! tut tut tut!...yesssssss, I will be doing my own eyebrows in the, future.

With that being said, I went straight to my local superdrugs and picked up this kit (now i love my mally brow fix) it comes in two shades light and dark, I picked up the dark as i have dark hair.
How to use
First you use the wax to shape and define your brows, with the angled brush provided, then you set the colour with the setting powder using the blending brush (you also get a mini tweezer in this kit! ) also provided.

My view's on this product!
Three words, buy this now! its ahhh-mazing, it makes your eyebrows, look groomed, without looking over done, and at £6.50 ( and in superdrug stores right now, its 3for2 on all make-up woooo hooo!) this brow kit is a bargin.

You can buy this from most superdrug stores, or direct from sleek's website  www.sleekmakeup.com

I am loving the sleek brand right now, if you are on a budget and want good quality, cheap in price make-up, sleek is the way forward.

Boots 17 Magnetized Nail Polish

Boots 17 Magnetized Nail Polish

The only way I can explain what happen to me in boots is "it was like an out of body experience" lol! I swear, I saw myself grabbing the nail polish and then running ( like a maniac might i add!) to the tills! errrrhmmmm!

When I first heard about this new nail effect I was so excited and could not wait to try it out.

If you are a person who always buys from the 17 range then this might seem a tad bit expensive to you, as there nail polishes usually range from £2.99-£4.00, if however you love nail polishes like OPI, and Nails Inc, Zoya, (just to name a few) then this nail polish is a STEAL! at £5.99.

Before you apply this nail polish, you need to use a base coat ( well, before you apply any nail colour really!)  and after you apply the colour, you need to apply a top coat, it makes it last longer.

After you've applied your base coat, allow to dry then apply the polish, whilst still wet place the magnet over the nail for 10-20secounds and wait for the effect to develop, when dry apply a top coat, simple.

You can buy this product from most boots stores, or you can get it direct from there website http://www.boots.com/  this polish comes in 4 colours blue (which is pictured above) green, purple, and a gun metal grey.

Coconut Oil Hair Shine ( Body Shop)

The Body Shop's Coconut Oil Hair Shine
When the weather starts to get colder, I tend to wear my hair  in a protective style (in a hair bun,so that the ends of my hair are hidden) and I was on the hunt for a hair product that adds shine, but doesn't look greasy, as i do not know about you, but I do not like the feeling of grease in my hair, i do not like my hair feeling weighed down with products.

This hair shine is beautiful, you do not need alot of it, as you can see from the picture above, this is a solid oil, which turns into a balm in your hands, it gives amazing, ahhh-maaa-zin! shine to the hair and, the thing I adore about this product is, it doesn't leave your hair feeling or looking greasy.
If you are looking for a product that adds shine, but doesn't weigh down the hair then this is the product for you! and i forgot to mention that it smells lush also.

How to use: Just apply over dry hair,

This product can be used on all hair types!

you can buy this direct from there website www.thebodyshop.co.uk  it costs £4.85 or you can pop into any of the stores...

BOBBI BROWN'S LONG-WEAR GEL EYELINER (with bobbi brown's ultra fine eyeliner brush)

As of right now I have a thing for eyeliners, and not just any random eyeliner, but Bobbi Brown's long-wear gel eyeliners.

I've always adored the look of liquid eyeliners, they just look so intense, but i could never master the art of applying it (well without almost poking out my eyes!) so i've always just stuck to pencils, that is, until gel eyeliners, thank you Bobbi brown!

When I first heard about this product, I have to be honest I was not holding my breath, no excitement, nothing, as you can tell, I was not convinced at all! in fact i thought to myself "hmmm gel eyeliner, long lasting, oh please your having ah laugh!".

hmmmm.......how wrong was I!

This product is amazing, ahhhhh-ma-zing and worth every single penny! the eyeliner is creamy but not sticky, its thick but not to thick, so it glides on so easy and smooth.

"you know sometimes when you apply eyeliner and a few hours into the day you have to re-apply it! arghhh, used to drive me to nuts"

With Bobbi brown's long-wear gel eyeliner, it will not move until you TAKE IT OFF! I don't know about you, but i do not have time to keep on re-applying eyeliner every second...even when you use this eyeliner on your waterline it will not budge, this stuff really is long lasting.

The Bobbi brown's ultra fine eyeliner brush, makes applying the eyeliner that much more effortless, once you try one Bobbi brown gel, (addiction warning!) you will want them all ALL.

"to me this is a must have for anyone who likes make-up to stay put"

You can buy both of these products directly from Bobbi brown's website http://www.bobbibrown.co.uk/
the gel liner costs £16.50 and the brush costs £21.00, direct from the website

OR......DRUM ROLL PU-LEZZZZZZZ........

You can also buy these products from http://www.qvcuk.com/  where you will get two gel eyeliners a mini mascara and yesss I did say AND, the utlra fine eyeliner brush (for £31.50)...lol! I don't know about you, but I know where I would go! errrrhmmmmmmm.

enjoy x

PS. I forgot to mention with qvc you will have to pay for p&p ( postage and package) but it will not be much!

...do it do it NOW!

Mally's Brow Fix

Mally's Brow Fix

Firstly let me say and stress, if you have never heard of  "mally's cosmectics" then you really have no idea what you are missing!

This product really is "that good" and is called "brow fix" for a reason, it really does fix your eyebrows, if you are like me, and can not stand over made up brows, that look like they have been painted on, not even drawn on, but painted on!  then this is the product for you.

One of the things that I like about this product is that  a person can come right up close to you and could not even tell that you have anything on your eyebrows.

This product thickens and lifts your eyebrows, to me, this stuff is like mascara for the brows.

How to use:-
Apply with light strokes, just as you would with an eyebrow pencil!
  • Thickens eyebrows
  • looks natural
  • Any skin tone can wear this product

This product retails for £20.25 from http://www.qvcuk.com/ and http://www.ebay.co.uk/

I would not be without this product, so if your like me and like the more natural looking brows, please give this a try.

pro's

Denman Be-Bop Massage Brush

My first experience with a massage brush was around 3 years ago, at a hair salon and I have always thought to myself that I must get one of those for myself.
S reminded me the other day about them so I decided to pick one up.

At first look, it seems like it wont do much but that could not be further from the truth!!

The brush is round and made out of plastic, the bristles are soft but firm and are very flexible.
There is a handle located at the back of the brush that you can slip your 4 fingers in to help control the movement of the brush.

(excuse the messy nails in that shot!!)

Basically once you shampoo your hair you use the brush in any sort of motion you like to give a relaxing or stimulating scalp massage......... heavenly!!!

Now if you know anything about brushes you would have heard about Denman, they produce high quality hair-brushes for every type of hair, but they can be on the rather expensive side which why this massage brush is such a steal!!
Not only can it be used for a scalp massage but it can also be used to distribute gels, waxes and pomades!! and you can get it under £5 AMAZING!!!!

you can get it on the Denman website www.denmanbrush.com for £2.87 and it comes in black or silver.

You can also get it in Boots www.boots.com and John Lewis www.johnlewis.com but the price varies, you should still be able to get it under £5.

A fantastic multi task brush, 4.5 out of 5.
