Competition

The hair product giveaway is on the facebook page! miss it miss out!

That's The Stuff I Don't Like!'

There is this tag going around in the "youtube" world called " That's the ish ( meaning shit) I don't like" as you know I am not on youtube but I thought I would share with you all, the things I do not like, the things that make my blood boil..

  1. When you go to someones house, and there bathroom and kitchen are dirty, ( eyes rolling) ohh my days, really, really, did I need to see that dirty ring around your bath, or that yellow stain in your toilet, not to mention the kicthen plates, looking like you haven't washed up in weeks, " errr, I'm sorry, did I just knock on your door out of the blue, did you not know I was coming over to-day?!!!! please do not offer me any food or nothing ( nut-ink!) because I will say nooooo! I can not stand dirty bathroom or kicthens.
  2. So you've finished trying on your clothes in the fitting room only to get to the cash desk and the cashiers are having a private ( yesss thats pri-vate!) conversation, now err hello, I'm sorry are we at your house, do I really need to hear how you were backing that up, or your baby father dramas! errr no, I shouldn't have to say " hello are you serving" I am a customer you, are, an, employee, know your roll, and serve me! that s**t I do not like!
  3. When a man comes up to you, trying to get your number and you've already told him you've got a boyfriend, and he wouldn't be to pleased if \I gave out my number, and they still say something stupid like " we can just be friends"  fool, you did not come up to me looking at my behind to be friends, and there's other females who would jump at the chance, just not me, get over it and move on!
  4. You've booked your appointment at the hairdressers for 10am, 11.30am you are still sitting down waiting to be seen! helloooo, I do not have all day to sit here, waiting on you to eat your frigin food, if you didn't have the time for me tell me when I made an appointment! do not ( OK, do not!) have me waiting like your doing my hair for free! I'M PAYING YOU FOR A SERVICE, FIX UP, I'm not begging you for your time, I'm paying you for it! that stuff I do not like!
  5. Lateness I can not stand Lateness, If you know you're going to be late do not wait until I get to the venue to tell me you are on your way, when you should've been here already! come on, I have a life, and I hate waiting...
  6. Borrowing people things and having to ask for it back!
  7. People always moaning about there life, stop moaning about it, and do something, all that negative energy, is keeping you where you are, snap out of it, make the change, only you can do it!
  8. People who always call you and never ask how you are! are you for real! do I not have a life, do I not need to talk! "I'm sorry why did you call me!"
  9. People who look down on others like for example a cleaner! believe me most of these people who you see cleaning your offices or shops or streets are highly educated people, but there qualifications are not recognised in this country! god forbid you fall down after saying " err hello you missed a spot" and that very same cleaner saves your life...
  10. People who go to these back street hairdressers for there £20 relaxer and have a fit when they comb there hair and its falling out, " let me get this straight, you payed a hairdresser who's hair is nyam out and crusty to do your hair!" enough said!
  11. Ignorant people, " sweetie let me break it dowm for you, ignorance is not bliss, its darn right stupidness! arhhhhhhhhhhhh! eeeeeeeeeeeediot
  12. People trying to give you advice when there "ish" is messed up! whenever people try to do this with me that song always plays in my head " move b***h get out da way get out da way get out the waaaaay!" just saying!"

Oh there's more... but for now I will leave it at that, hmmmm What are the things you do not like!

Top 5 Lipsticks for the winter months

The clocks have gone back, theres a nip in the air, its dark by 4 in the afternoon and the christmas ads are on..... winter has arrived!!!
So its time to put away those bright summer shades and go for something a bit darker, here are my top 5  for winter 2012 to suit all budgets.

NYC - 434 - Velvet Wine
A dark red wine colour with a satin finish, it may be a bit goth for some, perfect for a night out. Works really well with MAC's lip pencil in "Current".
You can get this lipstick in superdrug in store for only £1.49!!!!! an absolute steal.

Rimmel lasting finish - 128 - Starry-eyed
I saw my friend wearing this last christmas and told her I loved it, then she got me one for my birthday!!!  This is more of a pinky berry colour with a satin finish, it not too dark but still makes an impact and as the name states it really does last.
You can get this lipstick from Boots or superdrug in store and online for £4.99 again a great price.

Rimmel Lasting finish matte collection by Kate Moss - 107
I done a review on this a few weeks back so if you want to know more about it have a look, a great dark berry semi matte lipstick.
You can get this lipstick from Boots and Superdrug in store and online for £5.49

Revlon Super Lustrous - 646 - Sultry Sable
S gave me this for christmas last year, its a deep berry colour but as its a creme finish it VERY wearable, I've actually worn this everyday for the last week.
Goes perfect with NYX slim lip pencil in "Never"
You can get this lipstick from Boots and Superdrug in store and online for £7.49

MAC Rebel
This is a cult shade, I was first was told about this colour by S so on a random trip Selfridges I picked it up and have been in love with it ever since, in fact before writing this post I thought i'd lost it and was so upset that I was preparing to buy another but then I found it........... Anyway, its a stunning bold berry with a satin finish. What I love about this colour is that it looks different on everyone, I know i've seen other ladies wearing it and thinking to myself have I got the "wrong rebel"!!!! It much more expensive than the pervious lipsticks i've listed but trust me its well worth it
You can get this lipstick from MAC consessions, MAC stand alone stores or at www.maccosmetics.co.uk  for £14

So if your looking for a lipstick for the colder months ahead , whatever your budget, I hope this helps.

Sleek BB cream

So I brought this a good couple weeks ago when it first came out. There has been a lot of hype around this coming out by especially women of colour because A LOT of other BB creams have not been suitable due to the restricted colours available by that I mean in light or dark (or tan, but that's in my own opinion hahaha!!!) so you can there was a lot of expectation on sleek to get it right.

It comes in 4 shade: Light, Fair, Medium and Dark
I chose Medium which is golden caramel type colour.

The consistency is quite thick, so you don't need to put on too much, however the sleek website advises that you can put on two layer for maximum coverage, I personally think that this too much especially if you want to put on others things such as concealer or powder, you could easily end up with a caked on look. Saying that it blends quite well and you do get a decent coverage from one layer.

I do like this especially once I add other things such as my highlighter and blush. its a nice everyday product to wear instead of a heavier foundation, which you could save to wear on a special occasion or a "office to bar" day.

My only gripe is that they may want to come out with a few more colour choices which is between the "medium" and "dark" shade just like their foundations.

It is a little more expensive than the other BB creams out there in fact its a £1 more than Sleeks foundations. But I do think you get your moneys worth as it is a good product and I can see myself buying it again.

You can get Sleeks BB cream from their website www.sleekmakeup.com or from Superdrug

Rimmel London Kate Moss Matte Collection Lipstick

Its finally arrived!!!

I've been itching to try this lipstick out, I already decide from reading a previous that I would go for colour 107 which is a deep purple berry colour.

Firstly this lipstick is not completely matte which takes away the need to put a primer on top (I do this with the MAC matte lipsticks) as they are no so drying plus it glides on like a dream.
The colour is quite full on, apparently the collection contains "Ruby Powder" which adds to the intense colour hit.

I really do like this lipstick but if I was to be picky then I'm not mad about the smell of the lipstick. I'm not sure if each colour has a different smell but 107 smells like berries, to match the colour maybe?!? It reminds me of those make up set for little girls that had a overpowering scent of roses or strawberries.

If was I going to get another colour it would be 111 which is a warm red.

The Rimmel London Kate Moss Collection is available from Superdrug in store only(I have yet to see them in Boots) priced at £5.29 and for the next few weeks if you spend more than £5.99 on Rimmel London products you get a free Glameyes professional liquid eyeliner which is worth £5.49.

How I use facial wipes ( night time routine)..

If you are one of those people who come home from a long day, and just reach for those facial wipes to take off your makeup, and that's it, your done, STOP!!!  I don't care what these things claim to do, they do not take off all of your make up, and if you do not believe me, try it, go to bed, when you wake up, take a wipe and wipe your face, you'll see you still have make up left on your face...

"If you suffer from acne, or are prone to breakouts, it is so important that you take off all of your make up correctly...once you get used to doing so, when you get home from a long day, it will seem like nothing to you.."

How I use wipes

First of all, I use any facial wipes, it really doesn't bother me which brand, as you can see from the photo above. The first thing I do after a long day is ( errrhmmm, baileys on the rocks!) take off my eye makeup ( with an eye makeup remover loving N07 from boots right now), then my lipstick, after I will take a facial wipe and wipe off my foundation, when I've finished with the wipe, ( no I do not go to bed people! tut tut tut) I then dampen my face with a little water and grab my "African black soap" and wash my face..I continue to tone, ( my toner of choice right now is tea tree water from lush) and moisturise.

This is my nightly routine..

Some people will read this and be like "ohh that is soo long" my response to you is "love the skin your in, as you only get one face, and if you wear make up every day, you need to be taking the time to  cleanse your face"

They usually have offers on wipes in superdrugs and boots, plus they sell them in the poundland, supermarkets...

xxS

African Black Soap (acne)

If like me you never had acne as a teenager but now as an adult it seems like a week doesn't go by without a new breakout, you are not alone....there's thousands of us out there. I've used over the counter products, been prescribed creams from my doctor, and yes these creams have worked but not for long... for me anyway.

I've been hearing a lot about African black soap via the YouTube world, but it didn't really appeal to me until I went to an event and I met the lovely lady and founder of "Gidore" (a natural online product store ) "Lukwesa Burak" I was telling her about my skin and she recommended the soap, she also said it is one of there best selling products online...so you know I just had to buy not one but two, and I am glad I did.

How I use the soap

As I love wearing make up, I have a very strict night time routine, I will go into details about this, in my post called "how I use facial wipes" so look out for that one, anyway, so, what I do is after I take off my makeup, I make sure my face is damp, then lather the soap in my hands and start washing my face in a circular motion, if I wanted to exfoliate ( as this soap contains oats) I would apply the soap directly to my face, being as gentle as possible...

Above is the soap new and un-used
The soap used, (and abused errhmmm lol!) as you can see the oats are more apparent.

My Verdict

I am in lust with this soap, my weekly breakouts have stopped, yes, I do get the odd spot every now and again, but its nothing to cry about ...all the hype I heard about this stuff is true, well, it works for me, and I will always have this in my bathroom..

"This soap is certified organic"    "Cruelty free"

If you want to give this a try ( and I think you should yes!) go to www.gidore.com  the soap costs £4.50

I have not seen this brand in the shops only online..

or you can go directly to the brand website www.nubianheritage.com

Models Own Mirrorball Collection

Ever since the press shots were released for this collection a couple of weeks back, I've been hyped up for it. They were released a few days early at their "Bottle Shop" in Westfield West London, so as I was there I thought I would take a look.
Models own describe them as "nail frostings" I think they are more of a 3D glitter but hey each to their own.

There are 5 different colours in the collection with disco themed names hence Mirrorball:

Hot Stuff - A coral pink and gold
Freak Out - Electric blue and hot pink
Dancing Queen - Green, gold and blue
Disco Inferno - Gold, copper and green

I opted for "Boogie Nights" which is purple, blue and hot pink.

Now the problem I have with this collection is that looking at the bottle it looks like a complete colour, it isn't. It is just the flecks of glitter within a clear polish.
In order to wear it on its own you would have to put on quite a few coats to achieve a wall to wall gitter look.

As a topcoat over a similar colour it works really well and brings an extra something to a standard manicure.

Here i'm wearing it over Essie's "Sure Shot"

I have to admit that I'm a little disappointed by the Mirrorball collection, I love Models Own normal glitters and really had high hopes for this but it just falls a bit flat for me, this is one that I won't be replacing.

If you want to try the Mirrorball collection they cost £5 each.

If you want anything from Models Own now is the time to buy as they are having a online 50% off sale!!!
Minimum spend is £25, use code SUMMERSALE
The sale ends on October 2nd 2012 at midnight.
To shop go to www.modelsownit.com

Accessories Haul!!!!!

So i've brought a couple of accessories over the past few weeks that I would like to show you, we've not done hauls before on the blog but if you would like to see a clothes one let us know :-)

Studded Slippers
Theses are everywhere at the moment, in fact studs in general are just everywhere. I first saw a  Topshop pair during the summer but when I tried then on they were far too narrow.

I came across these ones in Office within Topshop in Westfield West London, I loved the nude colour as I hadn't seen them before and they fitted like a dream, better still they only cost £25!!!! The Topshop ones start at £28.

They also come in black, not sure if you can get them on the website, may only be in-store but do have a look. www.officeshoes.co.uk

Models Own glitter polish
Models own have opened the worlds first bottle shop in Westfield West London, and have some great offers. I love models own glitters I really do think they are the best out there.
I took advantage of the 3 for £12 offer and was able to choose one of the Mirrorball collection for free (review coming soon)

To find out more head to www.modelsownit.com

Lola Rose Charm Bracelet
This is my 5th Lola Rose bracelet, I tend to get them when they are on offer on QVC as they can be very expensive because they are semi precious stones, but saying that this is the most expensive one I've brought at £19.

A week or 2 ago it was a todays special value, from the 2013 Spring / Summer collection, I instantly fell in love with the deep green blue and the rose-ish gold, in fact I think that this colour is much better suited to the colder months so I will be wearing it loads stacked with other bracelets or on its own.
www.qvcuk.com

Freedom at Topshop Jewellery
I've never been too much of a fan of the Freedom range as in the past as the pieces didn't really last and were quite expensive for what they were.
But these 3 pieces caught my eye and they were quite good value so I do hope they last.

Cross drop earings -£7.50

Rose gold cross ring - £4

Heart and cross ring - £5

And if you cant tell I'm really in to crosses at the moment!!!!
Not sure if you can get all of theses online but have a look www.topshop.com

Orelia Pearl Necklace
Orelia is a consession within Topshop and have the most dainty jewellery but is all very on trend.
I just fell in love with the way the light caught the little pearls /blocks on this chain, there is something that is very classic but on trend about it. At £10 I think its good value.

I had to take 2 photos of this to show a close up of the blocks, but really the photos do not do it justice.
You can find the Orelia range in larger Topshops or at www.orelia.com

Hope you have enjoyed this, leave a comment and let us know what you think.

A few year back I had a really bad waxing experience (which i wont go into hahaha!!!) and since then I've made do with Veet. Until the being of this year when I discovered Strip.

The are the UK's first waxing only boutique and provide waxing services for both men and women.

I go to the Chelsea branch where they provide the following services:

  • Waxing
  • Laser hair removal

  • Chocolate room
  • Berry room

I myself have been in the berry room and the lavender room and both are just lovely.
They have TVs in each room and give you the remote so you can watch whatever you want to get your mind off whats about to come.

They use different flavoured strip and hot wax, usually according to what room your in, so needless to say I have used the lavender and the so berry waxes.

They also do chocolate hazelnut, active gold, olive oil and manifco wax for the boys!!

At all strip branches they use Lycon wax which is a premium wax that prevents the painful sting that comes with waxing.

And I can honestly say that since going there waxing has been nothing but a pleasurable experience, the staff are so very professional you wont even hesitate to re-book.

Now with them using premium wax you can expect to pay premium prices, they start from £10 to an eye watering £175 for waxes.

Maybelline Smoky eyes mascara and master smoky eyeshadow pencil

I love mascara. I own more mascaras than most women. I wear mascara everyday unless I'm sick or if I'm doing a self imposed make up free day.
So when it comes to mascara I kinda know what I'm talking about.

On a recent trip to superdrug to pick up Sleek's BB cream (review coming soon!!) I saw that Maybelline had a new mascara out from the Colossal range "Smoky eyes"

Now I don't think for a minute that a mascara can give a smoky eye look on its own, but I have to admit that I was intrigued, plus it was on offer so I also picked up a "Master Smoky" shadow pencil in "Smoky Chocolate".

The mascara is nothing to shout about, the brush is a nice size but as I suspected I felt it done nothing to help create a smoky eye look on its own.
It's also has quite a strong scent which may bother those with sensitive eyes or wear contacts.

I much prefer Cat eyes mascara from the Colossal range that came out last year so if I were you get that instead.

Here I'm wearing the mascara on its own

The eye pencil fared a little better....

It's a double ended with the pencil at one end and a sponge at the other.
There are actual instructions on the pencil telling how to achieve the smoky eye look in two easy steps.

I thought the pencil was actually alright even though I felt a little silly buying the master smoky eye pencil because I own enough more than enough eyeshadow and brushes to create the look, but this is a nice speedy way to do it. It's very pigmented and blends real easily.

This would be perfect for someone who just starting out with makeup or those who find it difficult to create a smoky eye.

They come in 5 different colours:
Black
Chocolate
Navy
Grey
Violet

Here is the mascara and eye pencil both together

You can get both the mascara (£7.99) and eye pencil (£5.99) from superdrug in store and online www.superdrug.com
They are currently doing an offer of 2 for £10 on selected Maybelline products which include both of these products.

FYI on my lips I'm wearing L'oreal Caresse in 202 "Impulsive Fuchsia" I done a review on the range a few months back take a look.

My Big Chop! ( no more LYE) 2nd September 2012

I've been relaxing my hair for as long as I remember, ( early teens) and my reasons for doing so, were just because everyone else was doing it, plus, I always dreaded getting my hair done, ( I recall saying "ouch, my hair!" and then being smacked with the comb lol! ) the pain the pain, and I always used to beg my mum or sister to hot comb it, because I liked the straight look...so, I've been wearing a relaxer for about 20 years... when I used to get my relaxers, it would only be 2-3 times a year, so if I had one in January, my next relaxer would be ending of May/June...

I'm 5'5 ( OK 5'4 and a half! gosh! ) and my hair here ( this picture was taken a few months ago)  is bra strap length " relaxed" I used to get comments like " what weave is that" "is that all your hair" " you must have Indian in you" one time I was in the hair shop and this lady asked "is that all yours?, your lying! are you fully black?!" then she tried to touch my hair, and this was another black female..

" I  find it sad, that people still believe that just because your black, you can't have long hair"

The Reason's behind my "big chop"

I have been blessed with a beautiful daughter, and I noticed that when I went to get hair products she would go straight to the wigs and weaves section? whats that about? and she would try and pull at her hair, saying " I want hair like mummy's" by the way she turned 3 this year, and that really bothered me, and I couldn't relax my hair again after that, so I said to my daughter " you want hair like mummy's OK baby, OK"..so, my daughter is the reason why I am Natural today...I want my daughter to understand that her black is beautiful no "LYE"...

The day of my "big chop"

oh my life, people, I was nervous, I'm not even going to lie to you, January of this year was my last relaxer, my goal was to transition for a year, but I couldn't cope with the two textures after 6 months,  it was to much for me, so September 2nd I big chopped!...on my way to the salon I started to get really nervous, and it didn't help when a man said " beautiful head of hair" as soon as I stepped on the bus! I was like "really, really! REALLY!!!!!  and to top it off, I was early! LOL! but as soon as I sat in the stylist chair, I remembered why I was doing this, and the nerves were gone..

The first picture is of me, getting my relaxed ends cut off, 2nd picture, is my hair before the chop, 3rd picture is my hair on the floor of the salon, and the last picture is my natural hair NO MORE LYE!

Final words

I believe that people were shocked at my choice to go natural, because of the length of my hair,  but what can I say, It's just hair, it will grow, but right now I am loving the short fro or "TWA" ( teenie weeni afro) and I am looking forward to my new healthy hair journey, and to be honest I couldn't give a flying fig about what people think, as how I choose to wear my hair, is my choice..and if you are thinking of going natural, do your research watch youtube videos like  "mynaturalsistas" "Haircrush" "nikimae2003"  http://www.youtube/UKnaturals   http://www.YouTube.com/Naptural85 or get some well known books like " the science of black hair" "Grow it long" ...

The best part of my big chop experience was when my daughter saw my hair and said " ohhh nice mummy, you got hair like mines now, cheers!" and we had to cheers afro's...LOL!

I will keep you posted on my healthy hair journey!

MAC Matte Lipsticks

As the Kate Moss matte lipsticks are coming out in a couple of weeks (03/10/12) I thought I would review the MAC ones as I have been playing around with two shades over the summer.

The two shade that I have been wearing are:

Ruby Roo - A vivid blush red

I really love red lipstick and had heard a lot about this particular colour, I went in to my local Mac store and tried out a tester, I was a little worried about matte lipsticks in general as I suffer from dry lips so the assistant managed to talk me in to buying a primer to wear underneath and on top (which I have since lost!!!)
For me this is a great pick me up colour, so I do put this on whenever i'm feeling a bit low or if i want to add a bit of glamour to a converse and jeans day and of course for a night out.
They say that every woman should own a red lipstick and you could do a lot worse than this one

Here I'm wearing it with NOTHING!!!!!

So Chaud - A intense reddish-orange

Now everyone and their mum have been talking about orange lipstick this summer especially MAC's "Morange" so after seeing a few swatches I took myself back to my local MAC store to try out a tester.
First of all the assistant was wearing it and I didn't like it on her, but I thought "Hey ho, it might look better on me" it did not. I hated it.
Not one to give up I started looking at some other orange type shades and came across "So Chaud" it looked good on my hand so I had a go on my lips. I'm not gonna lie it was bright but not on the level that Morange was, it looked kinda classy, and plus I could mute the full-on-ness with a brown lip liner if I wanted to. I loved it.

Here I am wearing it with Rimmel's Exaggerate lip liner in "Ultimate"

The coverage of MAC's Matte Lipsticks are great they really do last all day and if you are sans lip primer (like myself) you can always use a clear lip balm.
They can be worn with a lip liner, I know that "Brick" is the one of choice to wear with Ruby woo. but they look perfectly good without.
And as an added extra I feel that both these shades make my teeth look whiter which is not a bad thing!!! #justsaying

Priced at £14 they are not cheap but are well worth it, I can see myself wearing both these colours all year round.
It will be interesting to see how the Kate Moss ones fair, they will be priced at a purse friendly £5.49 when they come out (and I know I have enough Boots points to buy all 5 if I wanted to hahaha!!!)
And if I'm honset both myself and S are really looking forward to trying them.

If you can not wait until October 3rd you can get the Kate Moss ones via Rimmels facebook page.

MAC Matte Lipsticks are priced at £14, you can get them in a stand alone store or a concession or online at www.maccosmetics.co.uk

YSL Touche Eclat - "Luminous Amber"

I think it was last year that YSL launched this product for darker skin tones, I did have a look when I was in Debenhams but wasn't drawn to pick it up until the end of June that is.....

Whilst in Ibiza with my good friend C, she whipped this bad boy out and her skin looked amazing!!!!!

Two weeks later I found myself in Debenhams, and they were doing an offer of duty free prices on various different items including Touche Eclat, so I played around with the testers and settled on number 6 "Luminous Amber"

What I love about this is the brush applicator, you click the bottom and can control how much of the product comes, its blends real easily, it also comes with a handy leaflet explaining how and where to apply it if your not highlighter savvy.
Also the size is fantastic to fit in your make up bag, this is an overnight bag essential.

The one thing I don't like about it is the price, I got it for £21.50 but as I said before it was on offer, it normally retails for £25, but that said it is a high end luxury product so the price matches the brand.
And the cap is a bit rubbish, you may need to put it in a little food bag to make sure it doesn't cover everything else in your make up bag.

Once this runs out I will be buying it again if anything this has made me want to try the foundation which launched a few weeks back.

Here I am wearing it with:
Sleek BB cream in "Medium" (review coming soon)
Mally volumizing mascara
Sleek blush in "Sunrise"
NYX Lip liner pencil in "Nude Beige"
MAC lipstick in "Hug Me"
HD Brows pallet in "Foxy"

You can get Touche Eclat at Debenhams for £25, if you are a beauty club member and want to buy it online you can get free delivery www.debenhams.com

My big chop is tomorrow!!! Nervous much!

Tommorow is the day, no more LYE!

I so rate females for long term transitioning, me, I can not do it, you really need to have a lot of patience in regards to dealing with the two textures, I am sure that this time tomorrow I will be pacing up and down in my front room, taking a swig from a bottle in a brown paper bag (just saying!) in one hand and frantically smoking from the other, and just to let you know, I do not even smoke! Hmmmm nervous much!

Right now I do not have a laptop as mine decided to breakdown on me! So I will try to get the pictures up of my "BC" ASAP! So please bear with me, thank you...

Will keep you posted!!!!

Make up Show Live ( at the cumberland hotel marble arch)

If you could just go back in time, ( when the angels were singing, violins and harps in the background) lets say, to around a month or so ago, when I was ranting and raving about "the make up show live" event that was going to take place on the 26th August at the plush " Cumberland Hotel" in marble arch, OK, stop right there, let me break it down for you like this, today ( yes today!) is the 26th August 2012 ( just visualise me saying that slowly! it, is, the, twenty, sixth, of, august, twenty, twelve!) it is now 11pm, in London, and if you haven't guessed already, I've been to the show already...( yesss I've been) ...errhmmmm.

I had bought a VIP ticket, ( which would've been £45) from "wowcher" which cost me £17.50 ( OK yeah) and if you were to go on to the "make up show live" website, it lets you know what you are entitled to when you buy a VIP ticket, one of those things were you could attend a certain workshops, "eye makeup master class"  " introduction to makeup" and the other thing was the "goodie bag" down below is a photo of the so called "goodie bag" and its contents...
A White paper bag with red tissue paper inside

A Packet of eyelashes, Jane Carter's nourish & shine, The Body Shop's "Japanese cherry blossom body lotion 60ml, "The Body Shop's " high shine lip treatment, Eye Shadow brush from "mink London", and a colour pack by Natur Vital...

Really?! Really?! REALLY!

I mean, are they having a laugh, is this what buying a VIP ticket gets you, People have departed with £45 of their hard earned cash, only to come out with this, goodie, bag!

"what a bag of crap"

I was so excited to be getting this goodie bag, and was fuming when I saw its contents!

Believe it or not it wasn't all bad, I did attend a makeup workshop, which was very very good, and my note pad is filled with new knowledge, I also met the wonderful lady who created "gidore" Lukwesa Burak" she was giving me natural hair advice..

Would I go again, NO..and even though I paid £17.50, for something that would've cost £45, I think £17.50 was far to much to pay for an unorganised, event....

I was meant to stay until 4pm, but left at 2pm, as I was shocked to find that there wasn't even Major make up brands there, from when you don't have even @sleekmakeup, at a make up show, there just wasn't any point...

big huge massive let down!

Are you, the nice friend?!

Breaking it down

OK, let me explain to you what a nice friend is, a nice friend is a person who is always there for you no matter what, a person who will always listen to your ramblings, and not even question why it is you haven't bothered to ask them " so, how are you!". A nice friend is there at the drop of a hat, which is fine, there is nothing wrong with that at all, as i am " the nice friend" ...but ( and yes there is a big huge, massive, BUT!!) be careful, as there are certain types of friends who take pleasure from feeding off of you ( they live for it, as they know, you are " the nice friend" who never says no!) let me break a few of these feeders down for you...

  • The "Friend who isn't happy until your miserable" ...meaning that so called friend is only around when things are going bad for you, you know the type, they never called you 6months ago when you told them your engaged, but as soon as they find out your man cheated on you, its all " ahhh babes, he was a d**k head anyways, you want to go out tonight?!" yeah, because, that helps! low and behold you get back together, you will not hear from them for a good while! My advice, do not pick up the phone to them
  • The " I know its a lot to ask, but can you" friend...now this type of friend only calls you when they need a favour, ie, money! bearing in mind  they still haven't payed you back the last ten times you loaned them money ( sorry, more fool you) and they've just finished telling you about their two week stay in Barbados, how it was so cheap, blah blah blah! My advice is before they finish off the sentence, tell them, " sorry I don't have it" as one day you're going to need that cash back, and they will tell you, sorry I don't have it...
  • The " it's all right i'll pay for you friend"...lets not even go there, all I am going to say is I was bought up not to rely on anyone false stop, if I don't have the cash to go anywhere then I'm not going nowhere! when someone tells me, " I'll pay for you" its goes in one ear and out the other ( i hold no grudges) because I know its not going to happen, hay what can I say, if it makes you feel good! lol! My advice, don't really listen to these people, it's pointless..
  • The " you only hear from them when they don't have a man" friend! errrrhmmmmm ( yes i am clearing my throat for this one!) this really annoys me, this type of friend could've called you for the last two weeks twice a day! but as soon as the catch a man, you don't hear from them at all!  it come like, there in the film " misery" so what, is your man locking you up in a cottage somewhere, I mean, are you playing the role of "James Caan" and your man playing the role of " Kathy Bates" is this the reason why, you can't get to the phone, keep breaking comitments?! in my eyes there is no excuse for this kind of behaviour, none..I can not understand people who do this? do you not value your friendships? and do you not think that its insulting, when you only call when you've broken up with you your other half, bearing in mind you were together for two years, oh you suddenly remember , moi! right then, OK. My advice is, you must know how they are by now, just get used to it...when they do finally call you, and are in shock that your now living in Spain, LOL!
Final word

A real friend will be there no matter what, they will not only call you when they need something, and they will not make empty promises, they will not exploit your kindness, some people are only meant to be in your life for a season, and some people you will have to let go..

Just be careful who you call a friend..

Keep on being " the nice friend" as you shouldn't make no one change your nature..

Adornment365 ( natural hair salon in brixton)

As of right now, I am on a natural hair journey, from relaxed to natural the last time I relaxed my hair was in January of this year..

So, if you have natural hair or making that big step to embrace what god blessed you with, then I would recommend you go and check out "Adornment365" which is based in "Morleys" in Brixton..

My Experience at the Salon

I was so excited about this consultation that I arrived extra early! when I got there I was greeted very nicely, told to have a seat, and asked if I wanted any tea or coffee! at this point I new that this was the place I wanted to come to over and over again! After about five minutes I was given a form to fill out which had various questions on it such as " how much water do you drink" " how often do you exercise" "what shampoos do you use" etc etc....

When it came time for my consultation, the stylist toke me to a quiet corner took my form and then it began...we spoke about what it is I want to achieve in regards to my hair, any breakage, etc etc...we found out that I am a product junkie ( whoop whoop!) which is not a good thing in the stylist eyes, after which the stylist the assessed my hair and scalp, I was then informed that I have a " whole lot of different textures going on, but I am lacking in protein, I need to drink more water ( hmmm it wasn't a good idea to say that I'd only had a lucazade that day!) and she explained why ( even though I know it all already, I thought that was very good advice!) When I told her about the products I use to moisturise my hair, she was impressed, but told me my hair needs more, like natural Shea butter etc etc, also it would be good for me to have steam treatments...

All in all, I had a fab time, not only is the salon always busy, the staff seem very friendly, and their hair looked good! which is always a sign of a good salon in my opinion..

The consultation is not free ( sorry ahh-bout that!)  it cost £5.99, lasts 20-30mins, but its so worth it, I came out there with a lot more knowledge, and two hair products.. ( so I have so much to give away!) I was told to stop switching up my products for a while, and just stick to a few...for me, that's going to be hard, as I love chopping and changing..

" Adorment365, also sell natural hair products, and make there own also..I bought there famous " the smoothie" and I love it already, but will not review it yet as I've only had it a few days, also there " organic hair oil"... if you want some hands on advice, if like me your going Au-natural, give this place a try, but book in advance as they are always busy."..

The hair salon is in  the huge department store "Morleys "in Brixton, you can not miss the department store as it is across from Brixton tube station...

My Hair Oils.....as of now

Here are some of the oils I have been using..... because I am currently transitioning from relaxed to natural, I really have been doing a lot of "moisturising and sealing"  or I will use an oil and mix it in my conditioner just for that extra boost, you know, you might have bought a conditioner, because some youtube hair guru, has ranted and raved about it, reaching out to you through that computer screen, ( you know, you saw that glo around them when they were speaking, you know what I mean! you do!) and you thought to yourself        " yess, I need that product now" only to find that it didn't work for you, do not leave conditioner sitting in the back of your cabinet, bring it to the front and use it, just add your oils to it...and if you can not be asked to do that, give it to one of your friends, it might just work for them...

My Hair Oils

From left to right

Ojon Instant Restorative Hair Serum 50ml £22.00..I'm just going to put it out there, I, love, this stuff! I use this before I heat style, or in my conditioners, of my "pre poo"...my hair comes out so soft..with an added bonus of helping to strengthen the hair, yes it is not cheap, but, worth every single penny! you can buy this from www.qvcuk.com or www.ojon.co.uk if you order straight from the site, it's free, and you get a free gift also!

Avocado Oil 100ml £2.49... I apply this to my rubbish conditioners or if I am going to do a "co wash" I will put this on my hair the night before, then wash my hair with conditioner only ( this is called a co wash) and it works a treat. I bought this from a seller on ebay called "eNAISSANCE" they sell alot of oils and raw butters...

West Indian Castor Oil 150ml £2.29...I bought this with high hopes but sadly it didn't work for me, but I do still use it in my conditioners, or pre poo's..I bought this from my local juliets hair supply shop..

Moroccan argan oil 100ml £6.99 from boots...this product smells so so so nice! I only use this if I am going to blow dry my hair or put my hair in a bun..you can get this from www.boots.com

Vatika Enriched Coconut hair oil..This product stinks so bad! I only use this when washing my hair with shampoo! this one was free for me at the hair show but you can find it in your local Juliet's or Ace or Sabinas.. for under £3.00

If you are on a natural hair journey or a healthy hair journey like myself, you do not want your hair to get dry, as dryness will make your hair brittle and brittleness will cause breakage...and remember if you love your hair, your hair will love you back....

MUA LIPBOOM (created with Alexandra Burke)

Let me start this review by saying that whenever I went into superdrugs I never really gave this brand a look in ( what, i guess its just the snob in me errhmm) I always used to think why is it so darn cheap?! until that is I heard they had a sexy hot ( and yes I'm saying hot like Austin Powers!! yeah baby yeah!)  celebrity on board who goes by the name of Alexandra Burke ( hmmm the power of the celebrity)  so naturally I went on a mad, crazy hunt, for these products....

This is a 4in1 product..meaning you can wear the lipstick alone, wear the gloss with the lipstick in the centre of the mouth, wear the gloss on top of the lipstick all over, or wear the gloss alone.

"At the time I was hunting for these, superdrugs had their 3for2 on all makeup, so yes, I, was more crazier then usual!"

This is how the product is packaged
This is what it looks like! fancy huh!
 Matte lipstick & Glitter Gloss
OK, so as you can see from the pictures above, the product is double sided, so one end you have the matte lipstick and the other you have the Lipgloss...the picture directly above, the colours are, from top to bottom, Cheeky,Vibe, It's A Situation..

" Cheeky"
Cheeky Lipstick on top and gloss underneath
" Vibe"
Vibe Swatched on my arm
 "It's A Situation"

Cheeky- is a baby pink, with blue undertones
Vibe- is a (hmmm how to explain this) peachy nude
It's A Situation- is a beautiful purple

My Verdict
I really like the fact that the product comes double ended, the lipstick side is very creamy, and highly pigmented, that alone is very impressive for such a cheap product, but, I did find myself re-applying a lot, but in saying that, it didn't dry out my lips like some other major brand matte lipsticks. The gloss side of it, I did like the look of it on, but i didn't like the feel of it on, as I am a huge fan of glitter glosses, but I do not like to feel the glitter on my lips, and sadly the glitter bits in this gloss I found way, way, to harsh..so I can't wear this on my whole lip, just the centre..For £3, they are OK, would I buy them again, no...

MUA is a British brand and can be found in most superdrugs, or on line at www.muastore.co.uk there products are very affordable, a few of their products are only £1, right now they are giving away a free nail lacquer with every order...
