TIP 1 "Tinted moisturiser" make your own!

We all know that money is tight, yess I would like to dive in to to M.A.C cosmectics and act like i'm swiming, with, a, huge, massive, smile on my face, panting like a dog, errrhmmm, but ( and trrust me, its not my pride thats saving me from doing so!) in this day and age most of us can't just say to ourselves,  " i see it, i like it, i'll have it"  we've got to save up for it, and there is no shame in that....

Which brings me to the fisrt tip....

Tinted moisturiser

Insted of going out and spending money on a tinted moisturiser, why not just make your own at home? All you need is your favorite foundation and your favorite moisturiser and just mix the two together.

  • Firstly doing this will save you money
  • secondly, it will be your perfect shade
I do this in the summer, and just use my setting powder on top of the tinted moisturiser..

xx

Ps...save that money you would've spent on a tinted moisturiser and treat yourself to something eles, why, because your worth it!!!

Elemis hand cream Vs The body shops hand cream

Elemis Pro-radiance "Hand and Nail Cream ( anti-ageing)...

Oh dear, yes, I have started this review by saying "oh dear", now bearing in mind that Elemis products are not cheap, and we've all heard the saying " you get what you pay for"  well, in this case, you do not get what you pay for! I have very dry hands, meaning I could cream my hands and they not only still look dry, after about a minute or so, of creaming them, they still, feel, DRY! so, as you can imagine, I have gone through a load of hand cream, one nightmare after the other....

I would've expected this one to be ( errhmmm name brand you know!) fantastic, how wrong was i.....

 What Elemis claims!!!

"This super smooth hand cream, with its luxurious silicon free texture, quickly absorbs to instantly rejuvenate hands and condition nails (errrhmmmm, if you say so!) Fragranced with exquisite white flowers, the blend of milk protein,..... BLAH BLAH BLAH AND BLAH, yes you've guessed it, I am not going to waste my time letting you know what eles they CLAIM!  This 100ml tube costs £22, yess twenty-two-British pounds! firstly I didn't buy this on it's own,( thank David Beckhams boxers!) I got this with a Elemis kit I bought from qvc, ( even though i would not buy any hand cream for £22) because if for some cRAzy reason I paid twenty two pounds for this, I would be even more vexed!

PRO's

  • it's thick
Con's
  • it's thick ( which is deceiving as you would think its good because it is thick)
  • it's to expensive ( if you are going to bring out a product that costs £22, its needs to be fantastic)
  • made my hands look and feel dry, so do not let the thickness of this hand cream fool you, it really is PANTS!
"I would not buy this hand cream if it was the last brand on earth, i would rather suffer!"

I have used other products from this brand, and have loved them, but this didn't tick any boxes for me, if you are interested in buying there products go to www.elemis.com

The Body Shop "Almond Hand & Nail Cream

As you know I am a fan of  "the body shop" I adore there products... you now know of my horrible experience with Elemis hand cream, so, bearing that in mind I was on the hunt ( a mission) to find the perfect hand cream for me, and my budget was up to £10, I previously went in to the body shop and tried there "hemp hand cream"  even though i was very impressed with the look and feel of my hands, for love nor money i couldn't get jiggy with the smell, good lord it reeks something awful! mmmhmmmm, i couldn't do it! so even though it ticked all the boxes, that smell, put me right off, and to be honest with you, i just called it a day.
A few weeks later ( it seemed like weeks but in actual fact might of been a day or two, anyway!) I went back in to the shop and saw that they had an almond hand and nail cream, tried it, fell in lust with it straight away! i just had to have it, and the smell, the smell! ahhhh heavenly!

PRO's
  • smells nice
  • thick but light
  • absorbs easily, and fast
  • doesn't leave your hands feeling sticky or greasy
  • value for money £10
  • it even comes in a smaller size perfect for if you are going aboard, or on a night out and can fit in to your dinky little bag!
  • YOUR HANDS WILL BE LOOKING REEM! lol! ( my bad, reem is my word of the month)

so if you suffer from very dry hands please give this a try, and remember you can always ask for a tester to take away and try yourself before you buy! you can buy this from your local body shop, or on line at www.thebodyshop.co.uk

Go to make-up storage for £1 (yes one pound! ;-) )

I am a person who has alot of make-up, on most days I tend to wear the same basic products, ie, concealer, setting powder, mascara, blusher, lipstick etc, because i do own alot of makeup ( and trust me, i have a filling cabinet for my makeup, which is good in a way as all my lipsticks are in one draw, foundations concealers, in another draw, mascaras, eyeliners, eye shadows in another!) I do not like the feeling of rushing around in a blind panic, looking for say, a lipstick, and I own a few mac ones (OK more then a few! errrhmmmm) so i would have to turn all my mac lipsticks upside down in order to get the one i want for that day..LONG! JUST TAKES FAR TO MUCH TIME! I am a mother i work, i go to school, i don't have the time, or patience to be honest with you!

So if you are like me, and have a lot of makeup but need something that you can just go to everyday, without hunting around this is a very good item for you!, this is cheap, its compact, it's deep enough! and you can keep your go to make-up items in one place...

In my opinion this is fantastic!!!!! and the key word is CHEAP!!

This item cost one pound, yes that's one British pound, from (drum roll please!) POUNDLAND! (oh my lifeee!!!)  this item is also available in, yellow, light green, and i think purple...
As you can see it holds alot of makeup, perfect for your go to products!

So get to your local poundland or 99p shop asap!!

HaiR RANT!

What happened to me today

Firstly, good evening to you all, and, thank god it's FRIDAY! I am not back at work until Tuesday so I am going to chill out, and get my "blog on", (ohhhh, happy Easter!) so, let me get right on with my rant, OK, so, I saw girlfriend of mine that i hadn't seen in a few years today, she proceeded to look at my hair in shock and dis-belief, then the dreaded question surficed ( and in a zombie like state!) " is that all your hair" so I said  "yes" then tried to change the subject, ( you know, I hadn't seen her in a few years, and all that jazz! little catch up errrrrhmmm) but that didn't happen, and i then was asked, "what do you do with your hair" so of course responded and the conversation went something like this........

Friend..."soo, what do you do with your hair?"
Friend...." are you sure, that's all yours?! really?! soo, yeah, so, babes, fill me in!"
me..." i hardly use heat on my hair, I wash my hair every week, I dc (deep condition)  every week I co (wash with conditioner only) wash every Wednesday, i wrap my hair....
Friend...her eyes were rolling, alot of sighing, a few tuts here and there, intakes of breath, a few " wow, you got time boy" "you let your man see you in a satin scarf, what!, your good!, not me, naaaa mate, not me"
me...if i cant be asked to wrap it, i make sure to put my satin pillow case on, I moisturise and seal my hair....(oh if you are wondering, yesss, i was still talking whilst she was sigh-ing and all sorts!)

Ok so the conversation went on like this for a good 10mins or so...

MY RANT!!!!
Do not get me wrong I have no problem telling people what I do in regards to my hair, as a lot of people do ask me, but, what gets to me is ,when I start to  tell them what I do, the response from them is always the same! eyes rolling, then telling me " that takes to much time" blah blah and yess BLAH! If a person wants a certain length of hair  or just healthy hair ( just like anything you want in life!) you have to be disciplined and focused on your goal, do your research you can not expect any kind of results if  you do nothing, but, sigh...you need to find out what works for your hair, I could be praising a certain product, you buy it, and it doesn't work for you, its all about trial and error, but you've got to be willing to make the effort! you've got to plant the seed, water it, and watch it grow...

Green Tea Rinse "the results" Part 2!

...Finally I've done the tea rinse!! if you've already seen part one of this then you will know how I started off, if not please check it out...soo this is the second part of what i did....
After the Green Tea cooled, I transfered it to an applicator bottle ( which you can get from any local hair and beauty shop) and a jug, I then washed my hair with a moisturising shampoo, after rinsing the shampoo out, i then applied the rinse, first to the ends of my hair, then poured it all over my head! My hair felt ROCK SOLID! I left the tea rinse on for 2-3mins then rinsed it out for 5mins, just to be sure that all of it was out.

Next I added my ORS Nourishing Conditioner, twisted my hair and put a clip in it to hold it in place i am loving this conditioner by the way smells ahh-ma-zing, I wish they did it in a bottle!!

After applying my ORS, I put on my foil cap, and sat around for an hour, my hair felt very soft, I then rinsed out the ORS conditioner, towel dried my hair for ten minutes and while my hair was still damp I added "Moroccan Argan Oil" and then proceeded to blow dry my hair...

These are the results, my hair feels thicker, fuller and stronger..

My Verdict:- I didn't like how hard it made my hair at first, but now i think i used far to many tea bags, next time i will only use 5! (errrrhmmmm, my mum, at this point would say to me, "ya too fast") and to be honest while blow drying my hair i still had shedding but only a small amount (wooohoooo results) in the picture above i haven't even put anything else in my hair, the only bad thing i will say is my hair feels very dry and i will be, moisturising my hair with olive oil after this post....

"I will be doing this again, and again, as i am well impressed"

Vaseline, helps to "grow" eyelashes?! really nooooo, shut up?!!!

About my eyelashes
My eyelashes have always been long and thick with a natural curl, I've recently mentioned that when i am stressed my hair sheds a lot more then normal, well, (hmmmmm sigh) another thing that happens when I'm stressed is, at night when sleeping i tend to pull out my eyelashes (how frigin random is that?!) so when I wake up I'll have a huge gap where some of my eyelashes should be!

I heard about the power of "Vaseline" through a friend of mine a few years ago ( while she was letting me know how weird i am regarding to my eyelash plucking) and never really gave it a try, until early March of this year, when (yessss) yet again I woke up with a huge space where some of my eyelashes should be...

"trust me, when i say, I wish I'd listened all those years ago!!!!"

How I apply the Vaseline
The first thing I do is remove every trace of make-up, then cleanse, tone and moisturise (i apply this at night before bed)
The next thing i do is (with clean hands of course!) take a small amount of Vaseline and place it on the back of my hand, and with my little finger I then, massage the Vaseline onto my eyelid, and onto my lash line (to the root of the eyelashes) after doing that I then apply it to my top eyelashes, very gently stroking in an upwards motion, ( and I'm looking down into my mirror) then I apply the Vaseline to my bottom lashes making sure every lash is coated.

The Results
My eyelashes are a lot stronger, and firmer. I have been doing this for a month now..

" I mean there's a lot of products that claim to give you longer, stronger, thicker eyelashes, but they do cost a bomb, now if you are on a budget, watching those Penny's, as in this day and age every one of them count, believe me (ain't no shame, in ma, game) if i drop a penny, I'm picking it up! LOL! there is no harm in giving this a try (it's worked for me, it might work for you, it might not work for you) 100ml Vaseline costs less then £4, I'd rather do that then spend over one hundred pounds on a 10ml tube of something that claims to do the same!!!"

You can buy Vaseline from your local Superdrugs, Boots, or local hair and beauty supply shop, if your local hair and beauty supply shop is, Ace, Juliets, Sabinas, Pac Cosmetics, it will be a lot cheaper for you to buy it from there, rather then Boots,or Supredrugs..

Getting ready for my "green tea rinse" Part 1

Hello All, spring is here and if this weather is anything to go by summer is looking like it will be a hot one (well at least that's what I'm hoping for!) no April Showers pu-lezzz!!!!

We've been doing alot of updates on our facebook page, but, we are back with alot of products reviews, favorite products of the month and hopefully depending on our subscribers and likes, we will start doing "competitions and giveaways" so if you are on our facebook page, tell your friends about us and spread the "LOVE" ( ohhhh i like that, spread the looove! lol) as who knows one day you could be a lucky winner!

OK, so, I have heard alot about tea rinses "Black tea rinse" "Rooibos tea rinse"  "Nettle tea rinse"  and there are alot of products out there that claim to "stop shedding, and breakage, cost an arm and a leg (might i add! ) and only help the issue "short term" now my hair is relaxed, and at certain times in my life i do experience "stress" which leads to my hair shedding more then it should....I've been meaning to try this "green tea rinse" for a while now......so today is the day.

The benefits of Green Tea
Green Tea is full of antioxidants, it prevents dandruff, moisturises and stimulates hair follicles ( which helps hair to grow) reducing, and in some cases preventing hair loss! now I do not know about you, but I like the sound of that!

Preparing the rinse
First I took out 10 tea bags, then I placed them in a pot, added 3 cups of water,( with lid on, or a plate in my case, what, i had to improvise!) bought to the boil and let simmer for 20-30mins then allowed to fully cool down....I will leave it for 4hours (some say its better to leave over night in fridge after its cooled down) then apply it to my hair, will post up results later with how I applied it...

This tea I bought from Sainsburys and it was £1 on special offer...

Will Keep you posted on results..so look out for part 2 later today....
